The University College of Gastronomy –
Education Centre for the Visiting Industry, BUC Ltd, was founded in 1998
and offers advanced theoretical and practical professional training for
the hotel, restaurant and tourism industries. The college is active in
Stockholm, Göteborg and Varberg.
-
We are commissioned by the state to
offer 60 and 80-point Qualified Professional Training Courses (KY
courses). We do this in Stockholm: Gastronomy – production and
management, 80 points, and Varberg: Business management – Camping
sites/Leisure establishments, 60 points.
-
We create courses on commission from
business enterprises, organisations, municipalities such as computer
based hotel management courses and a three-step sommelier course.
-
On commission and under personal
management we arrange study visits to Europe, mainly to France, to
study food and wine.
-
We have accreditation agreements with
a number of specialised universities in Sweden, the UK and the
Netherlands. After having completed our courses the students spend
less time in getting a Bachelor's degree. For a Master's degree a
corresponding accreditation is offered by a number of specialised
universities in the UK. Please contact us for more information.
-
We have developed education concepts
on commission from the industry such as the Bar Manager education
for New Kenilworth Hotels Ltd in Kolkata and Goa, India. The course
is now running with continuous admissions - see more information at
www.kenilworthacademy.com.
-
We have a comprehensive net of
contacts with enterprises and schools in Sweden and Europe to
facilitate student and teacher exchanges and practice placements. We
are also a founding member of L’Association des Écoles d’Hôtellerie
et de Tourisme/Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools, including
350 member schools in Europe.
-
We have very strong support from the
trade and are commissioned by the Quality Assuring Group of SHR, the
Association of Swedish hotel and restaurant managers.
Qualified Professional Training Courses
are free of charge, funded by the State.
The other courses are subject to charges.
